How to Deal with Children's Constipation: Six Solutions

Causes of constipation in children

1. Improper food composition or eating too little

After the stool dries up, the appetite decreases, the amount of food eaten is less, and the fecal matter formed every day is also less. The longer the fecal matter stays in the large intestine, the longer the water is absorbed, the drier the ambassador is, and the harder it is to discharge. Older children are also prone to constipation if they only like to eat foods rich in protein and do not eat or eat less vegetables and other foods containing more fiber.

2. Lack of habit of regular defecation

Intestinal peristalsis is controlled by neural mechanisms. If you have a habit of defecating regularly every day, you will want to defecate at that time. In this way, the feces will not stay in the colon for too long, and the stool will not be too dry, so it is easy to discharge.

Sometimes because the stool is dry, anal fissure is caused when defecating, and pain is caused when defecating. The more afraid of pain, the more unwilling to discharge. The longer the interval, the more stubborn the constipation is. Some people also often use Kaisailu to relieve bowels, forming a habit of refusing to defecate without stimulation. Once we know the reason, we can solve it.

3. Intestinal dysfunction

Some children suffer from malnutrition, rickets, hypothyroidism, etc., resulting in muscle relaxation of the intestinal and abdominal walls and difficulty in defecating. Some children are often constipated due to congenital defects such as Hirschsprung's disease.

Solutions to constipation in children

1. Massage

As long as the palm is downward, place it flat on the baby's navel, and gently push and knead it clockwise. This can speed up intestinal peristalsis and then promote defecation, and help digestion.

2. Kaiselu

Let the baby lie on his side and cut the tip seal of the kaiselu. The nozzle must be smooth to avoid hurting the baby's skin. Insert the plug opening tube into the baby's anus, gently squeeze the plastic bag to inject the liquid medicine into the anus, then pull out the plug opening shell, and clip a clean paper towel at the baby's anus to prevent the liquid from spilling and polluting the clothes or sheets. Let the liquid medicine stay in the baby's body as much as possible to fully stimulate the intestinal tract, soften stool, and achieve the best catharsis effect.

3. Glycerin suppository

Open the wrapping paper of the glycerin suppository, slowly insert it into the baby's anus, then gently press the anus, and wait as long as possible, so that the glycerin suppository can be fully melted before encouraging the baby to defecate.

4. Soap bar

Cut the soap into a conical thin strip about 3cm long and pencil thick. First, moisten the bar with a little water, and then slowly insert it into the baby's anus. Try to keep the bar in the anus for a longer time to fully promote intestinal peristalsis. If the above methods do not work, the baby should be taken to the hospital in time to check whether constipation is caused by other diseases.

Food for relieving children's constipation

1. Runchang Food

When the baby is constipated, you can add slippery sausage food, such as orange juice, red date juice, cabbage juice, etc.

2. Complementary food

When an infant is constipated during the weaning period, complementary foods can be added. In addition to the highly nutritious eggs, lean meat, liver and fish, vegetables, fruits and porridge with more fiber should also be added, such as spinach, rape, cabbage, celery, bananas, pears, etc

3. Honey

People also use honey for defecation. In fact, honey must be mixed with cold water to be effective, while warm water is ineffective.

However, Fan Zhihong, an associate professor of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety at China Agricultural University, said it is not advisable to give honey to infants too early. This is because when the child is young, parents are often not sure whether the child is allergic to certain substances (such as seafood, pollen, etc.). Honey contains pollen. If the child is allergic, it is easy to cause allergy if the child drinks honey.

4. Grains

When older children are constipated, they can add some cereals, such as standard flour, potatoes, corn, barley, etc. Oily food and cold boiled water can also help prevent and treat constipation. For infants over 4-5 months old, complementary food can be appropriately added. It is better to chop spinach, cabbage, green vegetables, shepherd's purse, etc., and put them into rice porridge to cook together, so as to make various delicious porridge for babies to eat.
